Your help is not only greatly appreciated but NEEDED. Please send any articles, updates, photos etc to me by Sunday at 4PM via email at editor@elmwoodnebraska.com
Bess Streeter Aldrich House

The home of beloved author Bess Streeter Aldrich adds nostalgic charm to Elmwood, Nebraska. To maintain its historical significance, it now requires costly repairs.
The Elmwood-Murdock FBLA chapter is partnering with the Bess Streeter Aldrich Foundation to offer “Celebrating a Century of Change,” a showcase of vintage clothing and classic cars. The event will be held on October 15 from 11a.m.- 2p.m. at the Aldrich House in Elmwood. This great project combines the fascination with history and the economics of raising funds to support an important historical home.
The Century of Change event will feature a fashion show of garments through the ages artistically displayed throughout the Aldrich house.
Outside, car enthusiasts can view a variety of classic and custom cars.
Food will also be served at this family friendly event that is designed to primarily raise awareness for the Aldrich house and raise funds for its renovation. This includes BBQ by Alan Brockhoff and Dan Brown.
Tickets to “Celebrating a Century of Change” are available in advance for $10 for adults and $5 for children grades K to 4.
Tickets will also be available at the door for $12.
Advanced tickets can be purchased at the Elmwood bank, Bits & Pieces, the Aldrich house, or from FBLA members at Elmwood-Murdock High School. For more information about the event, contactKurk Shrader at 402-994-3855 or kurkshrader@gmail.com.

“During the process of replacing the weathered entry to the Aldrich home, significant damage to the decorative wall was revealed. In fact, with a gentle nudge, the wall came tumbling down, which added $10,000 to the repair bill,” Aldrich Foundation Executive Director,Kurk Shrader explained. “In addition, to maintain the home’s National Historic Registry status and historical integrity, matching brick would need to be located and used for the project.”
With the costs skyrocketing, a partnership with the FBLA Chapter and a fundraising event was established.
The Waffleman Returned
The Waffleman returned as one of the most popular fundraisers of the Volunteer Elmwood Rescue Squad. Cars packed the parking lot this morning and bellys were full of waffles, sausage and people had fun.
I didn't know you could become a Whipped Cream VIP Nate or a Sausage VIP Teresa.

It's not a coffee, it's not "Chai Tea" this is an exercise program which promotes balance, What is Thai Chi?
Tai chi is an ancient Chinese tradition that, today, is practiced as a graceful form of exercise. It involves a series of movements performed in a slow, focused manner and accompanied by deep breathing.
Tai chi, also called tai chi chuan, is a noncompetitive, self-paced system of gentle physical exercise and stretching. Each posture flows into the next without pause, ensuring that your body is in constant motion.

High School Football Season
The Elmwood-Murdock Football team played their last home game of the season during Homecoming last Friday. They played a great game and the final score didn't really show the reality of a 0-10 game against Lincoln Lutheran who was 5-1 and ranked in the conference.
Here are the statistics for all of the games combined of the season for the sports statistics junkie in all of you. Thanks Julie Schmale for sending these on a weekly basis.
