Meet Sterling...A Man on a Mission...

Sterling Cleveland_1

Elmwood had a special guest Monday night. Sterling Cleveland is walking across the United States from New York to LA with the purpose of raising awareness and money for the American Diabetic Association and diabetes research. He is inspired by his late grandmother with whom he grew up. She was a diabetic, and as she grew older and the disease progressed, their roles were reversed and he became her caretaker. He began his journey in November at Grand Central Station in New York City and expects to reach LA on July 22.

He is (mostly) following the American Discovery Trail and has enjoyed learning more about this country and himself as he travels through the different areas of our country. He will be traveling through Nebraska for the next few days so if you see him honk and wave, or better yet, stop and talk to him. He has lots of great stories! His blog site is www.soiltrek.com To see where he is going you can check out the American Discovery Trail at http://www.discoverytrail.org/ .
