Special Performance at the Lofte
The Lofte Community Theatre's cutting of the full-length play, "Leaving Iowa," recently won top awards at the Nebraska Association of Community Theaters competition and will be advancing to the Regional Competition being held in Salina, KS April 27-May 1. To help offset travel costs, the cast and crew invite you to special public performance on Tuesday, April 26th at 7:30pm. The Lofte will be collecting a Free Will Donation and all proceeds will be designated for Region V expenses. No advance reservations are necessary and the performance is open to the general public.
The performance will last approximately one hour and there is no intermission. "Leaving Iowa" will be the Lofte's season opener and the full-length play will run May 28-June 12. The portion being performed on Tuesday, April 26th is a competitive cutting. If you cannot attend the free will performance, but still wish to contribute to the Lofte team, please contact the Lofte's box office at (402) 234-2553.

Pelicans on the Lake

The migrating pelicans stopped for a rest on the lake west of Elmwood. The Pelicans are very common this time of year, especially on the large lakes...Harlan County Reservior and even Branched Oak Lake. They usually stay out in the middle of the lake or in areas where there are trees and branches in the water. We are 'privileged' to see them in this area! They looked like a big pile of foam...or whipped cream!

Thanks to Tim Sorensen for the pictures and the story!

One Enchanted Evening....
The Elmwood Murdock Junior/Senior Prom was a success. After all that planning...all that fundraising...and all the shopping..the kids had a good time. Here are a few pictures of the kids as they prepared to leave for Prom at the Lancaster Event Center in Lincoln. The Post Prom Party Committee rented charter buses to drive the kids to the event. After an evening of dinner and dancing the kids changed clothes and boarded the buses again to go to the YMCA in south Lincoln for the Post Prom Party. There they had a choice of the rock climbing wall, swimming, basketball, dodgeball, and many other games. They had a lot of Minute to Win It games, too. I have some great pictures of the Post Prom Party to share with you...except I've misplaced my camera. Hopefully by next week I will be able to post those for you. The kids were awesome. The Elmwood Murdock parents can be proud of their kids.

Millie performed a classic runway walk.

Millie's beautiful corsage was provided by Deb Lenz...she is opening a new floral shoppe in Elmwood...stay tuned for more on that!

Looking for walkers!!! Or sponsors!
There will be free admission to the park, free parking, free breakfast (Krispy Kreme & Starbucks) and lunch and for the kiddos there is a big top tent full of carnival games to play, the entertainment after the walk will be the String Beans Band (kids band). The lunch being provided I have been told is Arby's, also Blue Bunny will be there with ice cream for a cool treat and that is just a start.
Dannielle was born at 28 weeks...she weighed 1lb 13oz and 14" long. Today Dannielle weighs 13lbs and 23" long. She has come along way thanks to the March of Dimes and their research.
