PILLAGE THE VILLAGE A SUCCESS!
Pillage the Village turned out to be a perfect day! The Kick
Ball tournament started at 8:30 am and finished around 6:30
Eight teams competed. Three Beds showed up for the Bed
Race and last year's champs, FOAGA, held their title for the
second year in a row. Throughout the day there were kids
games, concessions, popcorn stand, and in the evening smoked
grilled chicken or pork dinner with sides was served. It was some
really good eating. All participants in the Kickin' Balls and Racin'
Beds received Manley T-shirts and other prizes. The Pillage the
Village committee is already looking forward to next year.
So start building your beds and gathering your teams now.
"The Bombers" in green shirts against the fence Team members Mark & Missy Meyer, Cindy "The Bomber" Backemeier, Matt "Crooked Leg" Zoz, Knut, Kim Rust, Loren & Tammy Lockman,
Local participants in the rust orange shirts sitting on the pick up are :
David, Jake, Scotter, & Janelle resting after several games of Kick ball.
Rednecks Team consisted of lots of Cass County residents and only one Manley alumni
FOAGA Team consisted of some north of the river residents.
Fall is in the air. The first day was this week and you can
tell by the chill in the air in the mornings that it is here.
The mums around town are so beautiful. The apartment
building owned by Bill and Sue Connor on main street is
decorated for fall. The curb appeal is great!
Better head out to the Punkin' Patch on Highway 34 to get your
fall decorating items. They have gourds, pumpkins, decorative corn,
mums, just about anything you could want!
The Flying Wheels was Hoppin' Last Weekend!
The kids came out in droves! It was so much fun! Elmwood, Murdock,
Weeping Water, and surrounding communities have some really great
kids. And they had a blast Saturday night! Skating, dodgeball, and
dancing!
Great Weather = Picnic in the Park
A family takes advantage of the great weather to have a picnic in the
park. The Elmwood City Park is one of the best around. The tennis
court net was recently replaced and the court has been spiffed up.
It has been getting some serious playing time, too. Did you know the
park has horseshoe pits? Bring your shoes down and challenge your
buddies. The Boot Camp team has been utilizing the park all summer
to keep in shape!

That reminds me...Boot Camp!
Annette Eggert leads the Boot Camp team in exercises several times a week.
The workout is strictly at your own pace. She provides a variety of exercises
and shows you how to do them but leaves it up to you to push yourself to
your limit. She doesn't stand over you and scream at you. Give her a call if
you are interested. It would be a great combination with the Lifetime Wellness
Center Weightloss Challenge!
Workout Times: Monday & Wednesday nights - 6:45-7:45
Friday mornings - 5:45 - 6:45
Saturday mornings - 6:15 - 7:15

7:00 p.m. Speaker Keith Becker will present the life changing message

College. Life. It's about a senior in his last days of high school who
made a choice that ended it all. Someone dead, at just 18. Its' a story
that is in all of us. All patrons, parents and students from area schools
are welcome to attend. For more information call Louisville Schools at 234-3585.

BIRTHDAYS:
My Hubby Vince! Happy Birthday, September 24th! You, Stud Muffin, you!
If you submitted a story for me this week and you don't see it here it could
be because my computer crashed and I'm just working from my memory. So
if I missed your story I am very sorry! Hopefully I'll be back in business next week.
Have a great week!
Julie
