Operation Santa
Operation Santa Help Children in the Elmwood and Murdock communities have a Merry Christmas.
Stop by Clements Insurance office, take a tag from the tree, and shop for that child.
Bring your UNWRAPPED gifts back to the office by December 14.
If you have questions, you may ask Penny in the office or call Kris at 402-430-6875
Flagpoles or flags - both make exceptional Christmas gifts or just because you've always wanted one. American Legion Post 247 has both in stock and available for pickup in Elmwood. Proceeds from the sale of the poles and flags stay here in our community and go to support the youth programs of our Legion Post - Boys State and Junior Law Cadet.
We just received a new shipment of flagpoles this week. Along with that came the news that there will be a price increase on our next shipment. So if you're in the market for a flagpole, now would be a great time to get one before the price increase.
Also available are solar lights that fit on the top of the poles.
We also have 3' x 5' and 4' x 6' polyester flags - these are the longest-lasting flags offered by the American Legion. A hint on how to make your flag last longer: saturate the outside edge with Elmer's All Purpose glue before flying. Squirt it on, and either rub it in with a tiny sponge brush or your finger. Let it dry, turn over and repeat. You should be able to get a couple of extra months of use from your flag by doing this and it will only cost about $1 for a small bottle of glue.
Have a flag that needs to be retired? We can help with that as well. Just contact us or place it in a bag and hang it on the doorknob at the museum. We will ensure it is included in the next flag retirement ceremony in the area.
Christmas Lights in Elmwood
Drive around and you will see signs of the season all over town.
Please email Christmas your Christmas photos to editor@elmwoodnebraska.com for it to be included in the next couple of weeks.
The Living Nativity
If you got to do a walkthrough of Living Nativity just south of Murdock you witnessed a community coming together to share the true meaning of Christmas.
Music was provided by several people including myself and Owen Kunz
4-H families contributed animals and volunteered to present on how the animals may have been a part of the Nativity.
You can still schedule a private barn tour for groups during the weekday by contacting Sondra.
Notice that there are a couple of options to choose from this year:
In-the-barn experience: up close to the animals
Drive-through-the-homestead where you stay in your car and listen to a podcast as you see each animal pen,
Schedule a weekday private event for your family, friends, or group.
Let us know if you have any questions.
All for Christ,
Mark and Sondra Buell

ELMWOOD-MURDOCK SCHOOL WEBSITE
The E-M High School One-Act team has had a phenomenal season and now they’re on their way to the State C2 finals in Norfolk!
In order to qualify for a ticket to State, Elmwood-Murdock had to win their District round held at Nebraska City Lourdes last week. Our District was widely considered to be the toughest in the state (according to NSAA judges) and our kids came out on top.
The cast and crew include 41 students in grades 7-12 and is one of the best examples of teamwork and peer support that we have seen in recent years. They will perform their show, “Into the Crimson Shallows” at the Johnny Carson Theater in Norfolk at 4:30 pm on Thursday, December 9. They will face the five other top-rated shows in Nebraska.
We know that our community wishes them several broken legs!
Go Knights!
This week our Student of the Week Winner is Bailey Frahm. She is a senior at Elmwood
Murdock High School. Their activities include volleyball, basketball, track, student council, FBLA,
and she was a Girl’s State representative. She is the daughter of Doug and Kathy Frahm.
She was nominated for these reasons:
- She is a great student and is ranked in the top 5% of her class
- She participates in many different activities
- She consistently volunteers as a leader for several youth activities
Bailey, Doug, and Kathy are invited to stop by one of our clinics in Louisville,
Plattsmouth or Hooper, or email (dan@wittephysicaltherapy.com) to claim their
Witte Physical Therapy swag! An award will be delivered to them at their school!
