VILLAGE OF ELMWOOD
Board of Trustees Special Meeting
August 11, 2020 – 6:45 p.m.
The Village of Elmwood Board of Trustees met in Special Session on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at the Elmwood Village Hall. The meeting was called to order at 6:45 p.m. Chairperson Bruns stated that a current copy of the Nebraska Open Meetings Act was posted; Roll Call was answered by Angela Lancaster, Pat Wray, Miki Bruns, Rebecca Kicak and Dave Ernst.
Discussion was had, regarding the street project, with Scott Hrabik from JEO Consulting Group, Inc. The question asked by the board was would the project be able to provide a “drop” curb at certain locations and how that would change the scope of the project. Scott Hrabik said it was possible but advised that the Village had rejected such requests in the past; such drop curbs would create drainage concerns. The planned 6-inch curb would allow the street to contain storm water and prevent it from overtopping the curb and eroding the soil/grass. Adding drop curbs throughout the project is more labor intensive as they must be hand tooled after the paving machine passes by.
Becky Kicak made a motion to keep the uniform apron driveways for the entirety of the project, seconded by Angela Lancaster, RCV: Yes: 4, No: 1; Motion approved – 4-1.
Village Maintenance Position: The board conducted 3 interviews to fill the current vacant position of the Village Maintenance position. The Board made a recommendation to hire Jeff Clymer immediately at a rate of $20 per hour. Pat Wray made a motion, seconded by Dave Ernst, hire Jeff Clymer at a rate of $20 per hour. RCV: Yes 4, No 0, Becky Kicak – Abstained; Motion approved 4-0
Angela Lancaster submitted her resignation to the board with notice, her last meeting will be August 19, 2020, as she will be leaving the village.
Hearing was closed at 7:02 P.M.
